Budgeting for households

Give every dollar a job. See the whole picture.

Manna brings envelope budgeting and a complete view of your money together. Plan this month with the money you actually have, follow every account and your net worth, and share it all with the people you budget with.

Start from today’s balances, or bring your history from YNAB, Monarch, Mint, CSV or OFX files.

What you can do

A plan for this month and a view of the years ahead

Budgeting tools tend to be good at one or the other. Manna does both, on the same numbers.

Budget

Give every dollar a job

  • Ready to Assign shows the money that doesn’t have a job yet
  • Targets for monthly bills, savings by a date, or a balance to keep
  • Leftovers roll into next month; overspending is easy to cover
  • Credit card spending is set aside for the payment automatically
  • Age of Money shows how far ahead of your spending you are
Track

Every account in one place

  • Checking, savings and cards, plus investments, property and loans
  • Net worth over time, with assets and debts side by side
  • Import CSV, OFX/QFX, YNAB, Monarch and Mint files
  • Optional bank sync, with duplicates matched instead of doubled
Understand

See where it all goes

  • A dashboard you can rearrange to fit how you check in
  • Cash flow, spending and income reports by category, payee or tag
  • Recurring bills and income on a calendar, so nothing surprises you
  • Rules, tags and split transactions keep categories honest
Plan

Plan for what’s next

  • Savings goals with progress and a projected finish date
  • A debt payoff planner that compares avalanche and snowball
  • An optional assistant that answers questions about your own numbers

How it works

Budget the money you have, not the money you hope to have

It’s the envelope method, without the envelopes. Four habits, about ten minutes a week.

  1. Add your accounts

Enter today’s balances, import a file, or connect your bank. Money in your cash accounts shows up as Ready to Assign.

  2. Give every dollar a job

Assign it to bills, everyday spending and savings until Ready to Assign reaches zero. Targets tell you how much each category needs.

  3. Spend from the plan

Each transaction draws down its category’s available balance, so you always know what’s left for groceries or a night out.

  4. Adjust as life happens

Overspent somewhere? Move money from a category with room. Each month you budget, you get a little further ahead.

One budget, everyone on the same page

One shared budget
Partners see the same accounts, categories and plan. When one of you moves money, the other sees it right away.
Roles that fit
Owners and admins manage members, members budget and record transactions, and viewers get read-only access — useful for a financial advisor or accountant.
More than one budget
Keep a household budget and a side business apart, each with its own currency, and switch between them in a click.

Privacy

Your money is your household’s business

Plain commitments, built into how the app works.

  • Access is checked on the server

Every page and every change verifies that you belong to the household before any data is read or written. Other households can’t see yours.

  • Bank tokens are encrypted

If you connect a bank, the access token Manna keeps is encrypted before it’s stored. Bank sync is optional; files and manual entry work too.

  • No ads

Manna is a budgeting tool, not an ad platform. There are no ads in the app.

  • Export anytime

Download your transactions and your budget as CSV whenever you like.

  • Delete it all

An owner can delete a household from Settings. Its accounts, transactions and budget are removed for everyone, and linked banks are disconnected.

  • The assistant is optional and read-only

When it’s turned on, it reads only the figures it needs to answer your question and sends them to Anthropic’s API. It can’t change anything.

Start with the money you have today

Setup takes a couple of minutes: name your budget, pick starting categories, and add an account.
